INTRODUCTION
The Kilometro Rosso Science and Technology Park has grown out of the development of an architectural project. It is a complex project which must meet the requirements of a number of different parties which have chosen the new centre as the home for their future headquarters. This, together with the desire to convey the value of the diversity of various architectural styles, has led to the definition of a masterplan. On the one hand, the masterplan describes the overall layout of the project; and on the other, it sets out general guidelines to be followed for the project development of the individual buildings within it.
The specific details of the architectural and design aspects of the Kilometro Rosso Science Park are illustrated in four sections:

Initial considerations
this section describes and interprets the specific contextual conditions in which the project for the new centre has been developed. In particular, it analyses the site’s relationship to the A4 motorway, the significance of kinetic perception, and the relationship between the image and content of architecture

The author
a brief presentation of some biographical notes on Jean Nouvel, who drawn up the masterplan, together with a selection of quotes taken from lectures and conversations with the French architect.

The projects
a detailed illustration of the projects currently being implemented, i.e the masterplan and the new offices of the Brembo company. The link entitled “in progress” shows the state of progress of the work, thanks to images recorded by a web-cam installed at the building site.

A kilometre of words
using the formula of an alphabetical list, key-words have been chosen that correspond to significant aspects of the project and construction of Kilometro Rosso. Several links also allow visitors to find out more about the parties who, in various ways, have made their contribution to the new science and technology park.
