The building is situated near the Brembo Ceramic Brake System premises. It consists of a parallelepiped volume in direct contact with the red wall, which contains spaces for university activities. Alongside PhD and Masters courses, this site is also intended to house a business development service, defined as an enterprise hothouse and accelerator. This will entail Kilometro Rosso working as a consortium with the E-Lab of the University of Bergamo and the Engineering Faculty of the Milan Polytechnic. The purpose of the initiative is to set up facilities and services on economics, law, technology and finance, which can then be made available to individuals wishing to develop innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial activities.
The building is arranged over three floors, of which one is a basement and two are above ground. The lower level contains a large atrium into which light enters from above. Five classrooms lead off it, which overlook the greenery of the surrounding park through large windows. The upper levels house the open-space areas for workshops, which can be flexibly organised using mobile partitions and storage walls. The façades have a clean, essential look; the bands created by the reinforced concrete floors are used to create a horizontal pattern on the exterior, which also includes the sliding wooden grilles that filter light through the large windows.
