ENEA, the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, is a public body committed to research and technology development and to providing advanced services to enterprises, public administration, and citizens in the fields of energy, the environment, and sustainable economic development. Since its establishment in the 1960s, its strongest points have been applied research, technology transfer and its capacity to provide technical-scientific support to companies, associations, communities, central and local administrations. Its main sectors of activity are: energy technology (renewable sources, energy storage, smart grids), nuclear fusion and nuclear safety, energy efficiency, technologies for cultural heritage, seismic protection, food safety, pollution, life sciences, strategic raw materials, climate change and the circular economy transition. ENEA employs highly qualified personnel, working in cutting-edge experimental facilities in 13 Research Centres for the realisation of advanced projects, studies, tests, assessments, and analyses, as well as providing training services, specially aimed at transferring product and process innovation and promoting the exploitation of research results to contribute to the sustainable development and competitiveness of the Italian economic system.
