The I.T.S. “Lombardy Higher Technical Institute for New Mechanical and Mechatronic Technologies” is a Higher Technical Training School offering innovative 2-year training courses in the technological field for young post-graduate students. The courses are built through a participatory planning approach involving all the subjects that make up the Foundation (companies, schools, universities, training and research institutions, local and industrial associations). The I.T.S. Lombardia Meccatronica has offices in Milan, Bergamo, Brescia, Lecco. The course held in the Bergamo-based head office at Kilometro Rosso, within the Confindustria headquarters, aims at training Higher Technicians for automation and industrial mechatronic systems: participants learn how to design, build, integrate, control, programme, and market machines and automatic systems intended for the most diverse industrial processes and sectors. The 2000-hour full-time course plan includes 30% of in-company internships. Over 50% of the teachers are either professional freelancers or business managers. Collaboration with companies is crucial in the phases of training planning, laboratory equipment, technical teaching, curricular internships, and employment placement at the end of the ITS path.
