AFIL – Associazione Fabbrica Intelligente Lombardia – is the Lombardy Cluster for Advanced Manufacturing. It is the result of a process driven by the Lombardy Region, aimed at creating Regional clusters fostering the aggregation of the various regional players active in the field of Research and Innovation within the priority areas identified in the Regional Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3). AFIL fosters Research and Innovation in the field of Advanced Manufacturing, promoting best practices and enabling technologies among companies, in order to support and develop the leadership and the competitivity of the extended production system of Lombardy. Three main pillars are followed to implement that mission: being the reference actor of the Lombardy Region in the definition of R&I strategies in the manufacturing sector; set up a stable community of companies, universities, research actors, and associations thus favoring cooperation by promoting R&I projects and initiatives; develop an interregional network of Research and Innovation through the participation to the National Intelligent Factory Cluster (CFI) and the connection with other European regions, according to the Smart Specialisation Strategy (s3).
