The parallelepiped-shaped building juxtaposed to the red wall and located near the premises of Brembo Ceramic Brake System houses the university activities. Besides PhD and Masters’ degrees, these facilities are going to host a business development service called “business incubator and accelerator”, brought to life through a partnership between Kilometro Rosso, the University of Bergamo’s E-Lab and the Politecnico di Milano’s School of Engineering. The initiative aims at organising structures and services to offer economic, legal, technological and financial support to individuals proposing innovative business ideas and activities. The building spans three floors, including a basement and two floors above the ground. The lowest level houses a spacious hall with zenithal lighting giving access to five rooms whose wide windows overlook the surrounding park. On the upper levels, the labs’ open spaces can be flexibly arranged by means of well-equipped moving partitions. The external façades’ aesthetics is essential: a horizontal weave is drawn by the reinforced concrete slabs and underlined by the sliding wooden grids filtering the light that shines through the large glass windows.
