Brembo S.p.A.

Brembo S.p.a. was the first company to join Kilometro Rosso: its new labs and research centres, designed by the Ateliers Jean Nouvel and located in the western area of the district, boast striking longitudinal volumes, perpendicular to the red wall and covered by a layer of self-propelled glass plates. The project rationally develops starting from the reception cylinder, a vertical body that melts into the red wall and becomes a connecting hub: its lifts and circular stairs are linked to the horizontally-developed rue corridor which occupies the dilated wall, similarly to the linear spaces housing the Brembo showroom on the ground floor and the café on the first floor. Two linking bridges projecting out from the wall lead to the upper levels of the longitudinal bodies, where offices and labs are located, while the ground floor houses the open spaces with labs devoted to research and production. The choice of materials and colours in all interiors reflects a rigorous aesthetics: the tactile feeling of the exposed reinforced concrete on the perimetral walls balances out the lightness and transparency of the silk-screen printed glass partitions between the offices, which create a visual continuum towards the surrounding park.
